We are seeking a temporary Communications Officer (Internal)
to help to develop and deliver SOAS’s internal communications through
online channels.
The role involves working on the internal student and staff
bulletins, managing news content on the intranet and the digital display
screens.
Job Summary
The role reports directly to the Communications Manager and will help to develop and deliver SOAS’s internal communications through online, print and face-to-face channels.
Working with the Communications Manager to edit and develop the weekly news bulletin and fortnightly student bulletin, manage news content on the staff and student intranet and manage content on internal digital screens.
Develop and communicate key messages through appropriate channels and manage internal communications for regular activities.
Key tasks
Manage the day-to day running of MySOAS, the School’s intranet for staff and students, and to edit the weekly Staff Bulletin and fortnightly Student Bulletin, including researching, writing and publishing internal news and events items.
Develop and communicate key messages through appropriate channels and manage internal communications for regular activities.
Undertake research on internal communications issues and appropriate communications tools in SOAS.
Produce regular reports on the effectiveness of SOAS internal communications and monitor key School issues and provide Communications Manager (Internal) with regular updates.
Build effective relationships and work closely with relevant departments to secure effective delivery and co-ordination of the above functions.
Key skills
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to identify and communicate key messages.
Demonstrable excellence in copywriting and editorial skills
Creating high quality and creative content for different media, purposes and audiences
Experience of using multi-channel approaches to deliver up-to-date news and key messages (traditional print, newsletters, online and digital).
Outstanding organisational and interpersonal skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Knowledge of Sharepoint desirable
