Nesta’s Government Innovation Team seeks an intern to support our work helping public sector organisations improve their services through smarter use of data analytics.

Offices of Data Analytics Programme

Our Offices of Data Analytics (ODA) programme helps cities and regions join up, analyse and act upon data from multiple sources to reform public services. We work closely with public sector partners to explore which of their issues might be tackled with data analytics, and then support them to put in place the right technical, legal and data science elements to run a pilot.

We have completed ODA pilots in London and the North East, which focused on tackling rogue landlords and issues related to alcohol harms, respectively. We are currently piloting an ODA project in Essex that seeks to tackle the issue of modern slavery.

In addition to our pilots, we are working to support the growing number of Offices of Data Analytics that are emerging around the UK, in places like London, Essex, Manchester, Worcestershire and the West Midlands. Our aim is to help them learn from each other and distil what works and what does not work from their activities to assist other areas in setting up their own data functions.

  • Helping in the creation of reports, slide decks and other materials related to our work on data;
  • Supporting in the running of workshops and major events related to government and public sector use of data and artificial intelligence;
  • Assisting with other related areas of our Government Innovation activities, where needed.
